Hello, the engine OM601.912 is working badly, black smoke, no power and is making a strange noise when decelerated. I have disassembled the cylinder head cover, front vent, radiator and removed the injectors. Injectors have been recently done. Compression is 30bar for cylinders 1 and 2, 25bar for cylinders 3 and 4. Injection pump was set on 10 degrees before TDC and the guide for the chain is broken, there is also a long free play when I rotate the pump back after engine is set to TDC.

The work is slow because there are other priorities, we managed to put out the cylinder head and it looks like we need to put out the engine in order to change the timing chain. Anyone changed the timing chain, what was the odometer for a 2.0 Diesel? Thank you.

skyair: Thank you, this is helpful. The engine is running like never before.

Changes: timing chain and timing chain rails, chain tensioner , camshaft sprocket and crankshaft sprocket oil pump chain also. Cylinder head reworked 0.1 mm and valve oil ring changed, reworked valve seat also.

Radiator new because the old one (from 1988) was leaking cylinder head gasket new but I bought the 1.97mm thickness instead of 1.74mm.

Now all is fine, except that it seems to me that the idle speed of the engine is too high. Is there any way I could modify this? Thanks

kiusro: well, I just found the information related to idle speed adjustment in the manual Skyair just gave me. Thank you Skyair this is easier than I thought.
